This blog contains direct quotes from websites as of 2023. Programs and policies do change, at colleges, from time to time, so please check with the colleges directly to receive any updates. These are not, necessarily, the biggest, best, or most popular programs at the college, but they are the ones that just “caught my eye” as unique, special, interesting, or just plain awesome. They are randomly listed in the blog section of this website. Enjoy!
From the Midway University website, 2023: “Get into the spirit with a minor in Bourbon Studies in the heart of Kentucky's bourbon distilling industry. Gain hands-on experience to work in one of Kentucky's signature tourism industries.
“Our 100% online Bourbon Studies minor is a great addition to several of Midway’s undergraduate majors, such as business administration or marketing communications. The focus of this minor is to better understand the culture and business of the Bourbon industry. Courses are designed to give students the history of the industry, learn and talk about the Bourbon tasting experience, understand the role of Bourbon in Kentucky’s tourism and hospitality industry, and be prepared to gain entry level employment in the Bourbon industry or the supporting tourism industry.
“The Bourbon Studies program supports the full scope of the bourbon industry. Skills and knowledge gained from the curriculum would be beneficial to those seeking employment in the Bourbon industry, tour and visitor center operations, historic and adventure attractions, state parks, and the hotel industry.”
This Minor pairs well with their 4+1 MBA Program with a concentration in Tourism & Event Management. Here is some information on that program:
“It is now faster and more affordable to earn your MBA at Midway University. Undergraduate students now can complete two graduate business courses. The courses count towards both their undergraduate and graduate degree credit hours. By enrolling in the MBA 4+1 program, students can earn their bachelor’s degree and an MBA in just five years of continuous study. This is a cost savings of more than $4,500.
“How the MBA 4+1 Program Works: Undergraduate students admitted to this program will be permitted to take two cross-listed MBA courses their senior year, BUSM 520U: Leadership and Decision Making and BUSM 540U: Organizational Behavior. The courses will count towards their undergraduate and graduate degrees. These are the same courses offered to graduate students, and MBA students will be in the class.
“After earning their bachelor’s degree, students in the 4+1 program then officially apply to the MBA program. Students can choose to earn a general MBA or specialize in one of five concentration areas, including Equine Management, Health Care Administration, Human Resource Management, Sport Management, or Tourism and Event Management. By completing the two courses as an undergraduate, the student can complete any of the MBA programs within a 12-month period.”
