144 Small Private Colleges With ABET-Accredited Engineering Programs

You want to be an engineer, right?

Why sit in a calculus or physics class with 40 to 400 students? Why wait in line for an hour to talk to a full professor?

There are 144 small private colleges in the United States that offer ABET-accredited engineering programs. Class sizes for freshmen typically range from 15 to 30. Class sizes for upperclassmen range from 5 to 20. Hands-on research opportunities abound! Internships are plentiful. Placement rates are high. Freshman classes are taught by PhD professors who have dedicated their lives to teaching (not just doing research.)

You deserve attention. You deserve help. You deserve a chance. You deserve a world of opportunities.

October 1 is the date each year that ABET announces its latest accreditations. This year, over 20 additional ABET accreditations for small colleges have been announced. On the list below, these are indicated by (*).

Many of these colleges admit 2/3 or more of its applicants, and often does not have a separate application process (or set of criteria) for incoming engineering students. On the list below, the colleges that admit more than 67% of their applicants are noted by (!).

Several of these colleges offer some full-tuition opportunities (usually by interview) for high-achieving academic students. Colleges that offer these opportunities are indicated by ($)

Speaking of money, there are some great values here. The majority of these (noted by <) cost less than mid-$30K’s for most of their incoming freshmen. Quite a few only cost most families in the $20K’s.

I worked for one of these colleges (Monmouth College in Illinois), and I can vouch for the quality of life-changing education that you will receive.
