This blog contains direct quotes from websites as of today’s date. Programs and policies change at colleges from time to time, so please check with the colleges directly to receive any updates. These are not, necessarily, the biggest, best, or most popular programs at the college, but they are the ones that just “caught my eye” as unique, special, interesting, or just plain awesome. They are randomly listed in the blog section of this website. Enjoy!
Trine University in Indiana offers many ABET-accredited programs (biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical, computer, software, and mechanical), but they also have a couple of relatively rare minors/emphases: bioprocess engineering and energy engineering.
From the Trine University website, 2023: “Bioprocess Engineering: There has been an increased focus on biological engineering techniques utilized by industries that include, but are not limited to, pharmaceuticals, food processing, consumer products, agricultural and biotechnology firms. This increased focus from an industrial standpoint has resulted in increased demand for prospective employees that have a strong background in both engineering and life sciences. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a foundation to pursue a career in these industries.
“Energy Engineering: The minor curriculum is designed to prepare students for professional engineering careers in both the traditional and renewable branches of the electrical energy industry or for graduate studies in the energy field.”
